Every year, September marks Suicide Prevention Month, a time for individuals, families, healthcare providers, and communities to come together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and offer support to those who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts. At Welwynn Outpatient Treatment Center, we understand that suicide is often the result of untreated mental health conditions, overwhelming emotional pain, and a sense of hopelessness. But it is also important to recognize that suicide is preventable—and by fostering a culture of understanding, compassion, and open dialogue, we can help save lives.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, claiming over 48,000 lives in 2022 alone. Many of those lost were also battling substance use disorders, depression, trauma, or anxiety in silence. Unfortunately, stigma around mental health and addiction keeps too many people from seeking the help they need. At Welwynn, we believe that healing begins with connection—and that no one should have to suffer alone. Through comprehensive outpatient care that addresses both mental health and substance use, we aim to provide a safe, confidential space where individuals can regain hope and rebuild their lives.
Suicide Prevention Month is more than a campaign—it’s a call to action. Whether it’s checking in on a friend, learning the warning signs, or encouraging someone to seek professional help, each of us has a role to play in preventing suicide. At Welwynn, we are committed to being part of the solution by offering evidence-based therapies, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing support for those navigating the challenges of recovery. This month, we also honor the strength of survivors, the voices of advocates, and the memories of those we’ve lost.
If you or someone you care about is experiencing suicidal thoughts, please know that there is help—and there is hope. You are not alone. Reach out to a mental health professional, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or connect with a trusted support network. At Welwynn Outpatient Treatment Center, we are here to walk alongside you on the path to healing. Let’s use this month to listen, to learn, and to light the way forward—together.
